Following a hiatus of four years, Aamir Khan would have surely anticipated a better showing at the box office for his much–anticipated drama Laal Singh Chaddha. According to preliminary estimates, Advait Chandan’s film grossed somewhere in the ballpark of Rs. 7.75–8.25 crores on Friday, its second day. Unfortunately, the film fared dismally on the second day running, with the only bright spot being the national multiplex chains.
The film performed reasonably well in Delhi NCR and East Punjab circuits. However, it failed to make an impact in the mass circuits. The movie’s attendance in Delhi and some Mumbai cinemas was satisfactory. Sadly, the mass belts failed to show any considerable turnout, and based on the film’s reviews, it appears Laal Singh Chaddha will not make much of a profit outside the metro cities. This week holds several holidays, which provides Laal Singh Chaddha a final opportunity to achieve some respectably adequate figures; unfortunately, the first two days’ business have obliterated any chances of the film generating significant returns at the box office. The verdict is straightforward; Laal Singh Chaddha is destined to be a box office flop.
