The highly anticipated Aamir Khan starrer, Laal Singh Chaddha, finally hit theatres on Thursday, 11th August. Advait Chandan was the director of the film, which was written by Atul Kulkarni, and Kareena Kapoor Khan was also seen in the movie. This adaptation of the Hollywood movie Forrest Gump created huge hype and was expected to open on a grand note. But unfortunately, with unimpressive reviews and negative audience reactions, the business of the movie was met with huge resistance at the box office.
Although Laal Singh Chaddha has experienced difficulty in overseas markets, the film has sustained its presence in the overseas box office. Notably, Laal Singh Chaddha has brought in USD 3.17 million [Rs. 25.24 cr.] at the overseas box office. When compared to other releases in 2022, Laal Singh Chaddha has managed to overtake the opening weekend collections of the Alia Bhatt film Gangubai Kathiawadi which only managed USD 2.75 million. In conclusion, Laal Singh Chaddha has proved itself to be the highest grosser of 2022 in overseas markets on its opening weekend.
Going forward, the reaction to Laal Singh Chaddha has been divisive, however, the trade community predicts that it has a good chance of doing well at the box office despite the competition posed by Raksha Bandhan. It is anticipated that the film will continue to show steady growth over the upcoming weekend.
