Aamir Khan’s much–anticipated film Laal Singh Chaddha has unfortunately not recorded great results in its pre–release ticket bookings in India. Not only have bookings been low in mass areas, the situation has been similar at multiplexes too. Our data tracking shows that approximately 63,000 tickets were sold in three major cinema chains – PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis – throughout India, equating to a grand total of approximately 1.10 lakh tickets sold.
The All India NETT collection for the opening day of Laal Singh Chaddha was around Rs. 2.25 crores, which is incredibly poor for a movie starring Aamir Khan who is making his return after a span of 4 years. The advances for this movie are significantly lower than other pandemic releases such as 83, RRR, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and only marginally higher than Jug Jugg Jeeyo and Gangubai.
Comparatively speaking, the advance of Laal Singh Chaddha is only double of its competitor, Raksha Bandhan, but this achievement is negligible considering that even Raksha Bandhan has not achieved a successful advance. It all depends on word of mouth to determine the fate of Laal Singh Chaddha. Although the single-screen audiences may opt for Raksha Bandhan, it is anticipated that Laal Singh Chaddha will be the one to make the cash registers jingle in national multiplex chains and garner at least a hundred crores.
We expect the movie to have a successful opening weekend, particularly with the increase of walk-in customers as a result of the holiday, Raksha Bandhan.
