कौन है भगवान शिव
शिव या महादेव सनातन संस्कृति में सबसे महत्वपूर्ण देवताओं में से एक है। वह त्रिदेवों में एक देव हैं। इन्हें देवों के देव महादेव भी कहते हैं। इन्हें भोलेनाथ, शंकर, महेश, रुद्र, नीलकंठ, गंगाधार आदि कई नामों से भी जाना जाता है। तंत्र साधना में इन्हे भैरव के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। शिव हिन्दू धर्म के प्रमुख देवताओं में से हैं। वेद में इनका नाम रुद्र है। शंकर जी को संहार का देवता कहा जाता है। शंकर जी सौम्य आकृति एवं रौद्ररूप दोनों के लिए विख्यात हैं। अन्य देवों से माना गया है। सृष्टि की उत्पत्ति, स्थिति एवं संहार के अधिपति शिव हैं। शिव का अर्थ यद्यपि कल्याणकारी माना गया है, लेकिन वे हमेशा लय एवं प्रलय दोनों को अपने अधीन किए हुए हैं। रावण, शनि, कश्यप ऋषि आदि इनके भक्त हुए है। शिव सभी को समान दृष्टि से देखते है इसलिये उन्हें महादेव कहा जाता है। पुराणों के अनुसार भोलेनाथ स्वयंभू है लेकिन भोलेनाथ से जुड़ी की रहस्यमयी कथाएं प्रचलित हैं। आइए आपको भगवान शिव से जुड़े कुछ ऐसे रहस्यों के बारे में बताते हैं जो शायद ही लोगों को पता है।

भगवान शिव की उत्पत्ति
भगवान शिव स्वयंभू हैं, लेकिन पुराणों में उनकी उत्पत्ति का विवरण मिलता है। विष्णु पुराण के अनुसार जहां भगवान विष्णु ब्रह्माजी की नाभि से उत्पन्न हुए वहीं शिव विष्णु जी के माथे के तेज से उत्पन्न हुए, ऐसा उल्लेख मिलता है। विष्णु पुराण के अनुसार माथे के तेज से उत्पन्न होने के कारण ही शिव-शंभू हमेशा योगमुद्रा में रहते हैं।
शिव और शंकर एक ही हैं ?
कुछ पुराणों में भगवान शंकर को शिव इसलिए कहते हैं क्योंकि वे निराकार शिव के समान है। निराकार शिव को शिवलिंग के रूप में पूजा जाता है। शंकर को हमेशा योगी के रूप में दिखाया जाता है। कई जगह तो शंकर को शिवलिंग का ध्यान करते हुए चित्रित किया गया है। अतः शिव और शंकर दो अलग सत्ताएं हैं। मान्यता है कि महेश(नंदी) और महाकाल भगवान शंकर के द्वारपाल हैं और रुद्रदेवता शंकर की पंचायत के सदस्य हैं।
भगवान शिव से हुई असुरों की उत्पत्ति
पुराणों के अनुसार जालंधर नामक राक्षस की उत्पत्ति भगवान शंकर के तेज से हुई थी। इसलिए जालंधर को भगवान शिव का एक अंश माना जाता है। अन्य मान्यता के अनुसार भूमा नामक असुर कि उत्पत्ति भगवान भोलेनाथ के पसीने की बूंद से हुई थी। इसके अतिरिक्त कुछ पौराणिक कथाओं में वर्णन मिलता है कि अंधक और खुजा भी भगवान शंकर के पुत्र थे परन्तु धर्म शास्त्रों में इन दोनों का कहीं कोई उल्लेख प्राप्त नहीं है।

भगवान शिव क्यों लगाते हैं भस्म
भगवान शिव के भस्म लगाने की पीछे कई मान्यता जुड़ी है। धार्मिक मान्यता के अनुसार, भगवान शिव को मृत्यु का स्वामी माना गया है। इसी वजह से ‘शव’ से ‘शिव’ नाम बना। महादेव के मुताबिक शरीर नश्वर है और इसे एक दिन भस्म की तरह राख हो जाना है। जीवन के इस पड़ाव के सम्मान में शिव जी अपने शरीर पर भस्म लगाते हैं। एक अन्य कथा के अनुसार जब देवी सती ने क्रोध में आकर खुद को अग्नि के हवाले कर दिया था, उस वक्त भगवान शंकर उनका शव लेकर धरती से आकाश तक हर जगह घूमे थे। विष्णु जी से उनकी यह दशा देखी नहीं गई और उन्होंने माता सती के शव को छूकर भस्म में तब्दील कर दिया। अपने हाथों में भस्म देखकर शिव जी और परेशान हो गए और सती की याद में वो राख अपने शरीर पर लगा ली।

Origin of Lord Shiva
Lord Shiva is self -proclaimed, but his origin is found in the Puranas. According to Vishnu Purana, where Lord Vishnu originated from the navel of Brahmaji, Shiva originated from the glory of Vishnu’s forehead, it is mentioned. According to Vishnu Purana, Shiva-Shambhu is always in Yogamudra due to the arms of the forehead.
Shiva and Shankar are the same?
In some Puranas, Lord Shankar is called Shiva because he is like the formless Shiva. The formless Shiva is worshiped as Shivling. Shankar is always shown as a yogi. In many places Shankar has been depicted by meditating on Shivling. Hence Shiva and Shankar are two separate powers. It is believed that Mahesh (Nandi) and Mahakal are the gatekeepers of Lord Shankar and Rudradevata is a member of Shankar’s panchayat.

The origin of the Asuras from Lord Shiva
According to the Puranas, the demon named Jalandhar originated from the sharp of Lord Shankar. Therefore Jalandhar is considered a part of Lord Shiva. According to other beliefs, an asura named Bhuma originated from the drop of sweat of Lord Bholenath. Apart from this, it is described in some mythology that Andhak and Khuja were also the sons of Lord Shankar, but there is no mention of both of them anywhere in the scriptures.

Why Lord Shiva is consumed
There are many beliefs behind the consumption of Lord Shiva. According to religious belief, Lord Shiva is considered the lord of death. For this reason, the name ‘Shiva’ was formed from ‘dead body’. According to Mahadev, the body is mortal and it has to become ashes like Bhasma one day. In honor of this stage of life, Shiva ji consumes his body. According to another legend, when Goddess Sati came in anger and handed over herself to the fire, at that time Lord Shankar took his body and roamed everywhere from the earth to the sky. His condition was not seen from Vishnu ji and he touched the body of Mother Sati and turned it into Bhasma. Seeing the ash in his hands, Shiva ji got upset and in memory of Sati, he put that ash on his body.
