Over the past couple of weeks, people who have seen my new movie The Kashmir Files are asking me how they can go see it. When I tell them that it has been released in less than 500 theaters nationwide, they’re disappointed because they want to go see it now! But if you’re patient, then you’ll be able to go see my film when this Friday rolls around and my team and I expand the release to 2200 screens nationwide.
Now, after holding out for 19 days against fierce competition from other films such as Bachchan Pandey and Raees – The Kashmir Files has managed to earn an astounding Rs. 275 crore domestically and a measly Rs. 27 million abroad for the total worldwide gross of Rs. 303 crore!
With this, The Kashmir Files now ranks as the 32nd movie to make over Rs. 300 crores globally. In fact, the continued success of my film has eclipsed those previously released by Bollywood bigwigs Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Going forward, The Kashmir Files will continue its run in theatres despite facing competition from new releases such as RRR. With time, it is predicted that my work will surpass Toilet-Ek Prem Katha’s collection of 308 crore rupees worldwide.
