This year’s top grossing movie at the box office is apparently an Indian film from director, Vivek Agnihotri. Released last week on Friday, it started off rather well but then began to grow exponentially in popularity as people talked about it. And it really paid off- what was originally thought to just be a one day wonder turned out to be a long lasting success story. As it earned millions over its opening weekend, even weekday profits followed suit – and after only two weeks of release, The Kashmir Files became one of the highest grossing movies this year!
With the release of The Kashmir Files, there were high expectations to meet. And it was met successfully as the opening day collection reached Rs. 96 crores against other releases such as Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi that collected Rs. 68.93 crores or Rajkummar Rao -Bhumi Pednekar starrer Badhaai Do that only managed to make Rs. 12.60 crores – even Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund could barely make up 9.51 crores in its entire theatrical run (and he also starred in it).
And yet, audiences from all around flocked to theaters and watched them endlessly trying to find out what would happen next – so much so that despite starting off with only 650 screens for showings, the film grew quickly overtime to manage a steady flow throughout its running time because people wanted more of it!
Currently, The Kashmir Files continues to run in theatres, drawing in the audience. Furthermore, despite being challenged by Akshay Kumar’s Bachchhan Paandey, Director Vivek Agnihotri’s film has remained as the viewers’ favorite attraction at theaters due to its continuous popularity. Trade predictions are suggesting that because of this ongoing trend and consistent demand from audiences, The Kashmir Files will manage to cross Rs. 120 cr worth of collections across its second week at theaters.
