With new films coming out every week, it can sometimes be hard to stand out among them all. But this is where The Kashmir Files shines! Within less than two weeks of its release on 8 April, the film has already reached Rs.200 crore at the Box Office- shooting past other popular films in theaters right now. Audience members and film critics alike are praising the timely take on an important topic that seems current again today.
After an unimpressive opening weekend at just Rs.3.55 crore, viewership for The Kashmir Files grew exponentially when more screenings were added thanks to an overwhelmingly positive response from fans who loved it so much they wanted everyone else to see it too – we couldn’t agree more!
Now, when contrasted to the previous releases of 2022 – The Kashmir Files has outstripped all competition, taking the top spot. This year alone, it has grossed over Rs 200 crores and is still continuing to rise steadily, making it the first ever release of 2022 to reach this milestone so early in its run. In fact, having already crossed Rs 200 crore mark at nearly Rs 202 crore as per reports; The Kashmir Files was able to surpass even Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiwada that managed a domestic collection of RS 123 crores while being screened across India. Beyond these figures though are some others – Bachchan Pandey netted RS 44 crores while Badhaaiyaan Do and Radhe Shyam raked in RS 20 crores each respectively with Jhund netting only RS 13 crores.
Currently still in theatres, the business of The Kashmir Files is expected to hold up in its second week. However, with SS Rajamouli’s upcoming release – RRR- slated to hit screens this Friday, it remains to be seen if Vivek Agnihotri’s film goes down in receipts or not. For now though at least, most analysts are betting that even though people will spend money on seeing his upcoming competitor’s film instead, they’ll still come back for him and his team after seeing both films once; though some predict otherwise.
