The latest movie starring Varun Dhawan, Jugjugg Jeeyo, was launched on Friday with over 3375 theatres in the Indian market. The feature–film directed by Raj Mehta also featured Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Singh in pivotal roles. It earned critical praise, with favorable reviews and great business growth on the opening weekend. The box office collection of the film kept on increasing even in the days that followed.
In this box office analysis, we look at the first-week box office takings of Jugjugg Jeeyo, and compare it with the collections of Varun Dhawan’s past movies. With Rs. 53.66 cr, Jugjugg Jeeyo is now the actor’s seventh biggest opening week earner. The success of this film outshone that of Dhawan’s other projects such as Dishoom (Rs. 53.34 cr), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (Rs. 53.31 cr), and Street Dancer 3D (Rs. 52.94 cr). Nevertheless, Jugjugg Jeeyo failed to reach the levels of some of his more profitable ventures such as Dilwale (Rs. 102.65 cr), Judwaa 2 (Rs. 98.08 cr), Kalank (Rs. 73.70 cr), Badrinath Ki Dulhania (Rs. 73.66 cr), ABCD 2 (Rs. 71.78 cr), and Sui Dhaaga – Made in India (Rs. 62.50 cr).
At present, Jugjugg Jeeyo is still screening in theatres and is likely to witness an increased footfall over the course of its second weekend. Trade experts believe that due to the lack of patronage to the two newly released movies Rashtra Kavach Om and Rocketry, Jugjugg Jeeyo will reap great benefits in terms of box–office collections.
