Last Friday saw the release of Raj Mehta’s Jugjugg Jeeyo, starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. This Dharma Productions and Viacom 18 venture released across 3375+ screens in India, and opened to good reception. On its opening weekend, the film managed to bring in a grand total of Rs. 36.93 crore. Unfortunately, however, its business has seen a major dip on Monday, indicating a fall in collections.
In this analysis of box office numbers, we are examining the first Monday revenue of Jugjugg Jeeyo, and contrasting it to the first Monday revenue of other releases in the year 2022. With a haul of Rs. 4.82 cr, Jugjugg Jeeyo has been able to outperform Bachchhan Paandey (Rs. 3.37 cr), Runway 34 (Rs. 2.25 cr) and Badhaai Do (Rs. 1.85 cr). Thus, the movie is the seventh highest first Monday earner of 2022. Nevertheless, its business doesn’t surpass other movies like KGF – Chapter 2 (Rs. 25.57 cr), RRR (Rs. 17 cr), The Kashmir Files (Rs. 15.05 cr), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Rs. 10.75 cr), Gangubai Kathiawadi (Rs. 8.19 cr) and Samrat Prithviraj (Rs. 5 cr), despite the heavy promotion, positive word-of-mouth, and a wide release.
Going ahead, Jugjugg Jeeyo, a film which has little competition in the market, is projected to see an increase in its commercial performance. Though, according to trade experts, the rise in profits may not be as substantial as was earlier thought.
