Much to the delight of cine–goers, War – featuring Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor and directed by Siddharth Anand – opened to widespread praise on its much awaited release. The reports suggest that due to an overwhelming response from the critics and a phenomenal rate of advance booking, War could rake in around Rs. 48 crore in total on its opening day. The film looks likely to perform equally well both at multiplexes and single screens; although night shows are crucial for establishing its initial success at the box office.
Despite being widely released on 4000 domestic screens, War faced an uphill battle in some areas. Gujarat’s moviegoers have yet to see a noticeable increase in attendance due to the full celebration of Navratri. Similarly, its business has taken a hit in certain Southern regions as Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy appears to be taking a considerable portion of the market share.
War, the latest venture by Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff has witnessed an exponential rise in its film business throughout India, mainly due to advance booking which opened five days prior to its release. With the film anticipating such tremendous response, expectations are that War could potentially become their highest opening day grosser ever. However, taking into consideration the current market trend at the box office, it seems highly unlikely that it would break Yash Raj Films’ record with Thugs of Hindostan collecting Rs. 52.25 cr on its Day 1.
