Kantara, a Kannada movie, is set to be a popular South Indian Film at national levels. For the past few weeks, nobody outside of Karnataka and other southern states knew about this movie; but surprisingly it has been doing exceptionally well among audiences from all over India. Now it seems as if Kantara will join Karthikaya 2 in being successful not just for Telugu people but also for people from other parts of India – just like what happened with their first two movies.
Of course, it would all depend on how this Sunday goes. If there is a 100% increase in audience size, then the predictions for today’s earnings are high and we’re looking at an incredible day for this film. Anything more than what we’ve expected so far would be outstanding. But if the number of viewers does not show an increase of more than 50%, we’ll only know about tomorrow’s results and whether Kantara ends up being a Rs. 60 crore success or remains stuck in the 20 crore range
It will depend on what kind of business Sunday brings in. If we see an increase of 50% from this weekend, it is likely that the movie will do well for now but it’s still too soon to say for sure. Any numbers higher than that are great for us – anything over 70% and you can expect those numbers to stay consistent until next Monday whereupon they could go up or down depending on how the film does. For example, if we maintain around 60%, Kantara might finish at 20 crores while something lower may end up closer to 30-40 crore rupees.
