The Raj Mehta-directed film Good News was released a while back. Starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead roles, it has been doing brisk business at the box office since its release. Critically acclaimed after the well-received trailer came out, Good News is already receiving praise from audiences who are eager for it to come out. It opened up with a solid performance in the last week of December but people are still looking forward to seeing it more often as time goes on.
Now after its second weekend running, we take a look at the box office collections of Good News on its second weekend while comparing the same to previous releases of 2019. Collecting Rs. 34.20 crores Good News has managed to out-beat the Hrithik Roshan – Tiger Shroff starrer War that had collected Rs. 33.30 crores, and also Akshay Kumar’s previous release Housefull 4 that had collected Rs. 29.98 crores; becoming the fourth highest second-weekend grosser of 2019 so far (but still behind others). However, this doesn’t mean much because Box Office Mojo calculates business as a percentage of GDP per capita adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP) which means it takes into account a country’s entire population; who all have different incomes level depending on where they live in said country.
Currently, Good Newz faces very little competition from the recent releases yet it still remains at an audience’s first choice in theaters. In fact, trade experts predict that while there are newer movies out now, they too will also become less popular as time goes on.
