It was a joyous new weekend for Good News because the success continued to rise with each passing day. On Sunday, even more people went out and bought tickets. Rs 142 crore worth of tickets were sold at all showing throughout the night, breaking all expectations yet again and leaving critics thinking about what is going on over here? No other movie could compete against this film and so it continues its dominance in movies- for two weeks now! This week would be great too since there are no other films releasing soon to stop us from watching this one. And yes, we’re getting closer and closer to touching down those marks that are still untouched by Akshay’s previous blockbuster Kesari – nothing stopping us!
Good News is also good news for director Raj Mehta, now set to join the very rare company of only a few other directors who reached this benchmark with their debut films in Hindi Cinema. This past year, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Aditya Dhar and Jagan Shakti both achieved this with Kabir Singh, Uri – The Surgical Strike and Mission Mangal respectively. Moreover, Farhad Samji had done this while co-directing Housefull 4 without his brother which made it even more remarkable as no brothers before then had ever done it together on their first try without fail when directing what was supposedly considered just another regular comedy film.
