Nepotism, negativity, ‘no-shows’ – so many things had been said about Gangubai Kathiawadi before its release. If the movie is working well today, it is because of two reasons: One being good content thanks to Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and another one being Alia Bhatt’s excellent performance. Adding to this are the resourcefulness shown by producer Jayantilal Gada who wanted to distribute the film all across India despite theatre occupancy/curfew related restrictions; thus setting everything up for it to perform even better than expected!
