Roughly ten days ago, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt had its release. This was a welcome change from what we were used to during this pandemic when many businesses and theatres closed down due to extreme chaos. With a sense of normality finally returning, plus theatre releases gradually increasing, business has been seeing an upward trend in these last couple weeks. Now thanks to the success it has seen at the box office- Rs. 102.60 cr in only thirteen days – Gangubai Kathiawadi is expected to surpass its budget limits by triple digits so far making it one of India’s most successful films ever made!
Though it’s been revealed that Gangubai Kathiawadi is not only the first film of 2022 to reach Rs. 100 crores but also (somehow) the 95th film to ever do so, it has taken longer than most others (XX days) to reach this milestone achievement.
In terms of time taken, Gangubai Kathiawadi falls at no. 43 on that list for fastest films reaching Rs. 100 crores – making it one of the slower ones out there in contrast. Still running in theatres, despite having faced some tough opposition from newer releases and increasing competition due to changes in market trends and preferences – things are looking bright for business prospects thanks to a surge in favourable reviews – which we predict will continue in coming days and weeks too…
