The controversial film starring Alia Bhatt, Gangubai Kathiawadi directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali finally hit theaters. Having generated huge hype beforehand the movie premiered to thundering applause from both audiences and critics. Reviews were largely positive; it even managed to gather significant attention from other nations overseas thanks to its production value. The initial release window for Gangubai Kathiawadi which was up against Valimai and Bheemla Nayak proved fruitful as it emerged victorious in terms of box office sales due to its immense popularity amongst audiences who clearly couldn’t get enough of the story.
If we look at these numbers, it becomes evident that Gangubai Kathiawadi has been doing remarkably well when comparing them to other big-ticket movies that were released after the second lockdown. For instance, Ranveer Singh’s 83 opened in December last year but only managed to earn Rs. 7.29 crores on its opening day – placing it at third position behind Akshay Kumar’s movie Sooryavanshi who earned Rs. 14.51 crores during its opening day for a total of Rs. 17 crore (and still counting). Meanwhile, Gangubai Kathiawadi collected Rs.7 crores within three days, and is enjoying an upswing pattern which will likely mean it earns more than 50 crores within the next few weeks – while crossing 100 crores before too long as long as this momentum continues!
