It was originally predicted that Ram Setu would do well at the Indian box office after releasing on a Monday. Yet, as the numbers are starting to surface over time – it looks like otherwise. On Wednesday – which is now Day 3 for the latest release- Ram Setu started looking grim when according to the early projections it only managed to collect between Rs. 7 and 8 crores; an increase of just 10% from Day 2 when it collected 27 crore rupees (according to another source).
The bulk of these poor earnings come from rural areas as cinema goers are yet to forget this flick so soon-especially since there’s been mixed reviews coming in since Day 1. If tomorrow (Friday) sees another 10% decrease in earnings-the movie can only expect that people won’t continue going because they’ll know what might happen– less than 100 crores earned or maybe much lower than even half of this amount may still be possible.
On Friday most states will be out of the festive flavor, which means people are less likely to go watch movies. This leads me to think that Ram Setu may experience a further drop in ticket sales for this release– considering Akshay Kumar does well at making people go and buy tickets no matter what movie he’s in! Numbers are looking pretty dismal so far with only Saturday being worth noting as anything good happened then when compared to Friday (and still it wasn’t high enough). If Day 4 doesn’t give up more than Day 3 did, all hope would be lost. At best, we’re looking at what would happen if they make anywhere close to 60 crores over the next three days – and that’s still an unlikely scenario right now.
