Ek Villain Returns is maintaining its position in the weekdays, evidenced by Wednesday’s Rs. 2.10 crore in collections. Although there has been a decrease in numbers since Monday, figures have stayed above the Rs. 3 crore mark, something which would have immensely benefited the movie’s case. The saving grace is that collections have not dropped to a level where recovery seems impossible, which has been the fate of so many recent films, resulting in a figure of one crore or below in the weekdays.
In the case of this movie directed by Mohit Suri, the collections were merely satisfactory, however the big spike on Sunday, gave a faint glimmer of hope that there might be a few returns from the box office for this suspense–romantic–drama.
So far, the movie has garnered Rs. 31 crores* and now it is all about how the day plays out and, most importantly, the performance over the second weekend. Optimally, it should experience no more than a 10% decline today and the drop should not exceed 10–20% tomorrow either, given that there are no fresh Hindi releases competing with it. Should these two days witness favorable outcomes, there will be a likely spike in figures again on Saturday and Sunday, and the total amount earned may reach Rs. 3 crores.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
