At the start of 2020, Mohit Suri’s Malang proved to be a success in the cinema halls with an opening of Rs. 6.71 crores. By the end of the weekend, its box office figures had escalated to Rs. 25.36 crores and it concluded its first week with an impressive Rs. 39.65 crores. Taking a look at Ek Villain Returns’s current performance, it appears that it could very well follow the same trajectory and garner similar success.
John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria’s suspense thriller got a favorable beginning on Friday with a collection of Rs. 7.05 crores. Unfortunately, Saturday growth wasn’t noteworthy, but still garnered a total of Rs. 7.47 crores. Thankfully, the film hasn’t seen a drastic drop in collections, with a cumulative amount of Rs. 14.52 crores collected so far. The opening weekend is estimated to surpass the Rs. 23 crores mark, though a little less than Malang had earned during its initial weekend, but it still stands as an impressive performance nonetheless.
A major goal that the movie is expecting to achieve is reaching the Rs. 50 crore mark. This would be a notable and respectable feat in the current climate. Anything higher than that would be a remarkable bonus, and attaining the half-century milestone would be in the back of every person involved with the film. In order to achieve this, the box office collections should fall in the Rs. 8.50-9 crore range, which seems attainable based on the fact that the mass centers tend to generate strong Sunday numbers.
