Following its debut in cinemas, it seemed as though it would be a challenge for Ek Villain Returns to make it past Rs. 45 crores. Fortunately, due to steady figures throughout the second weekend, director Mohit Suri has created a chance for the suspense-thriller to reach the Rs. 45 crore mark. With the box office figures surpassing the Rs. 9 crore mark on the opening Sunday, if the box office retention had been a bit higher, the film could very well have made it to the Rs. 50 crore mark.
Even so, there was some reprieve, as the movie failed to follow the plummeting trend from the opening week, especially from Wednesday to Thursday. On the second Friday, the film earned Rs. 1.38 crores. On the ensuing days, there was a noticeable uptick in viewers, culminating in Rs. 2.01 crores on Saturday and Rs. 2.63 crores on Sunday. Admittedly, had the collections breached the Rs. 3 crores threshold on Sunday, it would have had a more impressive finish, but this is the reality of the situation.
Till now, the movie has earned 38.94 crores. It is highly likely that it will reach Rs. 45 crores. It would be interesting to witness the attendance during the second weekend, and particularly during the Independence Day holiday on Monday which is expected to cause a rise in viewers again.
