After gathering a massive sum of Rs. 23.54 crores in its initial weekend, Ek Villain Returns has collected between Rs. 2.90 to Rs 3.10 crore on Monday. With this, the four–day overall figure of this John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor starrer is approximately Rs. 26.50 crores. The film witnessed a drastic drop of nearly 55 percent in comparison to the opening day figures.
On Monday, Ek Villain Returns hit the multiplexes and garnered impressive numbers from mass belts. At this rate, it’s likely that the movie will secure around Rs. 35 crores in its first week and potentially make its way close to the Rs. 50 crore mark by the end of its theatrical run. This is greatly aided by the fact that there are no other major releases until Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan hit the screens on August 11, allowing Ek Villain Returns to have a nice window for itself.
The movie will also reap the benefit of Moharram on its second Monday, which should escalate the collections by a crore or two. The audience report of Ek Villain Returns isn’t as bad as the reviews suggested initially and now it remains to be seen if this Mohit Suri film can sustain at low levels from hereon and hit the half century by end of its run. At the mass belt, it’s only competition will be Liger on August 25, and until then, it’s going to be more or less an open run.
A slightly better hold in the range of Rs. 3.25 crore would have laid a better platform for the film to perform on the weekdays.
