When The Kashmir Files released earlier this year, it grew stronger with each passing day. After a few days in theaters, the film had already achieved Rs. 97.30 crores worth of sales. Unfortunately, the film fell short of entering Rs. 100 crore club but was able to earn its way back into the Rs. 200 Crore Club later down the road when people saw how good it was and bought tickets for multiple viewings.
Well, while waiting to see if and when Drishyam 2 hits a double hundred score – though we’re certain it will eventually happen – at least its getting there faster than expected. In fact, this week alone, the film’s earned Rs. 27.17 crores more over what was seen last week and that has pushed the film’s total to Rs. 64.14 crores which is just incredible! This is already the second best opening weekend of a Bollywood film in 2022, only behind Brahmastra – so you know it must be good!
Another movie in the running- Uunchai, has reached Rs. 2.87 crores worth of sales. Sunday marked its highest point to date but it could’ve done much better had numbers risen just a little bit more than they did. Regardless, the notion that it’s fighting against competitors is a promising sign because most movies in 2022 have flopped – either quickly or slowly depending on how fast they got killed off before even reaching one week of release. Here at least, we can see that at Rs. 23.62 crores so far (and counting), Uunchai will make an impressive showing with plenty of time left for success against Bhediya.
