Akshay Kumar’s movie Bell Bottom benefited from the Raksha Bandhan festival when it jumped up over 35% from its Saturday numbers yesterday. After an increase in ticket sales, the film made an estimated Rs.4.20-4.40 crores on Sunday – which means that it now stands at just under Rs.12 crores for its four days (including today). However, since this is early estimations – there may be a small margin between what has been reported and what will actually happen by Monday morning; which is where we’ll find out how well this movie performed.
This is the biggest Hindi film in terms of footfalls since cinemas reopened last October. Given its impressive Saturday performance, if it sustains at 80% of its first-day collections over Monday, it would be a sign that moviegoers are warming to it long term – considering anything north of Rs. 45 crore will be seen as respectable. Media buzz around the movie has been largely positive so far, with Sunday’s ticket sales proving decisive when it comes to gauging feedback from audiences on social media; after all, Monday figures – especially for those screenings starting early – will give us an indication about what people really think about this one so far.
