Sooryavanshi has crossed Rs. 50 crore mark in just two days as the film raked in collections within the range of approx. Rs 23 – 24 crores on the second day. The drop was expected, given that it came off a long weekend and there is an overall decline by only around 10%. This indicates good prospects for future success because audiences seem to be receptive towards this movie even after initial hype wears off.
It fared well in Gujarat along with other markets but decline was natural due to the lower number of people visiting theaters on weekdays compared to weekends or holidays. The territories of Central India Collected Rs 94 lakhs on Friday are expected to close out Saturday with around 75 lakhs at best whereas Rajasthani regions fell by 20%. Multiplexes were spectacular and reports show that collections have been about equal or slightly higher than Thursday’s income.
The two day business for Sooryavanshi falls right around Rs. 50 crores and Sunday figures are expected to go up at least 20% reaching around Rs. 30 crores. The opening weekend biz for Sooryavanshi is set to be about 80 crores which is roughly in the same ballpark as some of the bigger Akhaysa Kumar films from before pandemic time-periods. If anything, Sooryavanshi has been a ray of hope for Hindi cinema because it really has become a movie that boosts an audience’s attendance in theaters once again.
Figures from Maharashtra and Gujarat owe largely to Rohit Shetty’s brand equity as well as all the goodwill he accumulated through his cop movie universe – where he truly does have quite the stronghold; whereas for north India, Akhaysa Kumar was a huge boon during these times where he had such good footing there already beforehand.
Rumors are running rampant that the film is set to be the only success since Tanhaji was released back in January 2019. Considering how well this flick has done so far, despite all odds stacked against it – its critical acclaim will only give it more momentum moving forward! Early projections show some promising numbers on the horizon, but it’ll take at least 10 days before we see anything definite. It would take an astronomical effort for anybody else to stop them from earning massive profits now – and if they do, then I just don’t know what else could happen!
