Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi has done very well on Monday with collection figures nearly identical to those of its competitor films – Rajinikanth’s Annatthi and Marvel’s Eternals. It appears as though the film was able to achieve a pan-Indian release due to its remarkable popularity which has been seen across India. Originally, after screenings for movies like Master [Tamil] or No Time To Die [Hollywood], it seemed that people were getting bored and uninterested in them. However, it seems as if these numbers have finally changed with these results!
After accomplishing an exceptional first week of ₹77.08 crore, the Rohit Shetty directed movie continued to maintain its momentum on Monday as well with ₹14.52 crore- thus totaling at ₹91.59 crore so far. Although this is coming off the long weekend and ticket rates were lower than usual on Mondays, the hold appears fairly strong. What one would expect however is that Tuesday will follow suit since it has been seen in the past that a decline usually occurs around day five after such a long stretch without rest. The collection must remain within ₹11-13 crore range if they are to make an impact on films like these which rely heavily on weekday numbers (and weekends).
As indicated by trade experts, Sooryavanshi’s recent theatricals have been quite successful within the country. For example, Annette made approximately 4 crore rupees* on Monday alone, which surpassed Eternals’ total income of 2.5 crore rupees*. The point is clear: Sooryavanshi earned twice as much money as Annette and nearly three times as much money as Eternals over one day.
Furthermore, it can be noted that Annatthe began its opening day with more success than Sooryavanshi did – but then again, this might make sense because both movies were performing well up until Monday; in this perspective, then again – Sooryavanshi performed at least twice (maybe even three) times better during Mondays earnings.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
