Laxmii, starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani hit the streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar on November 9, 2020. As theatres in many Indian states were closed for months during the conflict due to the coronavirus pandemic, a number of films went straight-to-OTT. Now that theatres are open again but just 50% full capacity in most places, movies such as Laxmi will only be seen in theaters there.
It is being shown overseas though – including U.A.E., Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji – though it’s shown locally too where there is demand for it so it gets chosen! Numbers about how well the movie did outside of India show something different than what was expected when we first heard about it!
