Following the lockdown due to Covid-19, everyday life is gradually starting to become normal again, and theaters are now operational. Surprisingly, despite the hesitance of audiences to attend, the movie Mumbai Saga, starring John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi, managed to draw in Rs. 2.82 cr in revenue on its opening day. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the movie received a surprisingly good reception.
This report examinesearnings of Mumbai Saga and contrasts them to other 2021 releases. Roohi, starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, is the biggest grosser of 2021 so far, with Day 1 collections of Rs. 3.06 cr. Mumbai Saga, with a collection of Rs. 2.82 cr, stands second. The lower figures have been attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic, as certain regions were put under lockdown while others had night curfews, reducing the daily number of shows. Nonetheless, with 50% occupancy in certain regions, Mumbai Saga still boasts the largest non-holiday collections.
Currently, all is geared towards the upcoming weekend; according to industry prognostications, the manifestation of Houseful boards outside many movie theaters portends an upsurge in the film’s box–office revenue.
