Jersey slipped even lower on Thursday, with box office earnings declining from the day before. Estimates place its Friday takings at approximately Rs. 2 crores to take its cumulative seven-day earnings to about 20.1 crore rupees (approx US$2.9 million).
The movie is likely to break even just over Rs. 20 crore and it’s projected as a disappointing failure at the box office because its lifetime collections would not exceed those of other films like Jersey or Rangoon or Chance Pe Dance, although it would almost match the first day collection of Shahid Kapoor’s latest film, Kabir Singh (which did better than some of his previous films).
This means that after Friday screenings are done with, the movie will be taken out from major theaters and temporarily replaced with two upcoming releases– Runway 34 starring Ajay Devgn which released this weekend and Heropanti 2 starring Tiger Shroff which is set for release on December 18th. Sadly, it seems that other distributors won’t make much money off this new release because most profits come only from Indian markets instead of overseas ones.
