Since last week, when Ajay Devgn’s DRISHYAM was finally released in China, it has done quite well. In comparison to other movies coming out of India that are screened there first before anywhere else (such as TALAASH or ANNIYATAN), the performance so far can only be described as ‘modest’. Still showing modest growth for now though- on its sixth day, the film took another $120000!
This made a total of $750000 (a little under Rs 5 crore) which is somewhat less than what recent Indian releases achieved at the Chinese box office. With a Saturday nearing, we anticipate this growing trend to continue- after all success cannot maintain itself indefinitely and one cannot predict how long this current popularity will hold- but overall even taking Wednesday night’s release into consideration, we expect DRISHYAM’s collections (just shy of 7 crore) to pale in comparison with earlier numbers.
