Although Shahid Kapoor’s latest film, Jersey, had a decent performance on its release date yesterday, it took an unexpectedly low turn over at the box office. Early estimates show that so far it has collected between Rs. 3.6 and 4 crores in revenue – leaving both distributors and viewers feeling disappointed and frustrated with the result.
Though many expected the movie to perform poorly due to recent reviews before its release, nobody predicted such dismal numbers coming out of the first day opening weekend for Jersey. Even though there are still hopes for this movie in terms of money-making potential through future successes, now it seems there is little hope left for anything other than bad news from here on out; a pessimistic outlook shared by most critics who have seen early reviews released online ahead of time before yesterday’s premiere screening for the public release date today.
