After earning just Rs.7 lacs (1 million) over two weeks – despite having no release competition, even Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam was proving difficult to sell at the Chinese box office! But after 12 days on release it has managed to generate Rs.3 crore (USD $480,000) worth of sales while continuing to average 2-3 screens per day.
This success came as a surprise to many film trade analysts – considering that this particular area of China is currently experiencing widespread social unrest and shutdowns due to dangerous levels of contagious diseases such as the Covid-19 virus; which affects only adults who are not vaccinated against it beforehand. Yet somehow Drishyam seems to be getting through without much difficulty—despite all those factors working against it. So for now at least, things are looking good for Ajay Devgn’s latest foray into Bollywood cinema outside India!
