The Drishyam starring Ajay Devgn was released 24 days ago in China. The release had a slow start at the box-office and due to lack of interest it started losing its grip on people who came to watch it during this time period. With movies from other Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan having been shown here before – what sets out story apart?
Now on Day 24, Drishyam has drawn in an additional $140,000 more than its previous gross revenue. With a total of $3.84 million [Rs. 29.55 crore], it is now the third highest grossing Indian movie to release in China behind Dangal and Secret Superstar.
Going forward, the cinema industry in China is not going to see much growth. According to trade forecasts, this means that Drishyam will continue seeing collections but it won’t show improvement.
