Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been releasing globally, and is making waves around the world. People were eagerly waiting for this blockbuster hit, due out this past Friday. Advance ticket sales began weeks ahead, predicting a strong opening; which it lived up to. The movie dominated the global box offices over Mother’s Day weekend- just what everyone was hoping for!
After just three days of its release, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness made 450 million USD (Rs. 3,482.37 cr.) at the global box office; claiming 265 million USD (Rs. 2,052.33 cr) internationally and 185 million USD (Rs. 1,431.49 cr) domestically without much competition whatsoever.
In comparison to last year’s Doctor Strange release, the domestic opening of Ant-Man and the Wasp was 2.1 times greater than its predecessor (155 millones vs 85 millones). With this performance it ranks 7th out of 17 MCU films – behind only Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, Iron Man 3, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – with an impressive 11% market share domestically.
Moving forward, with positive reviews and strong word of mouth not to mention the franchise value it brings – trades expectations are high for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
