The Ajay Devgn starred movie Drishyam had only received a lackluster response from Chinese audiences, largely due to the widespread H7N9 bird flu that’s plagued the nation over recent months. On Day 30 of its release, it was estimated that Drishyam had earned about Rs. 37 crores through ticket sales alone. However, this number pales in comparison when compared to other Indian movies during their first month in China- like Akshay Kumar’s Airlift (which collected Rs. 1 crore after just two days) or Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan (which made Rs).
The good news is there are still nearly 60 more days left for the film to be screened; and even though it isn’t performing as well as it could have been doing had there not been an epidemic, it has proven successful so far both critically and commercially too.
