In accordance with what happened to other mid-budget films similar to it this year, Jayeshbhai Jordaar failed to take off during its opening weekend. During pre-pandemic times, these types of movies would usually last until Tuesday without the outcome being a foregone conclusion because they would usually follow Saturday’s success by continuing to grow through Monday and sometimes (though not always) Tuesday too. In this instance though, there was absolutely no growth over the course of Sunday which led directly into an $12 million loss for the debuting movie.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also played on a similar note this weekend. With nearly 100 Crore Club entries behind him, however, there was no need to worry for Marvel’s newest superhero film. The film had an average performance with its Sunday collection coming out around Rs 4.5 crores*. While these numbers aren’t anything worth celebrating, one must keep in mind that new Bollywood releases are performing equally poorly – if not worse – than Doctor Strange himself. Now standing at 113.24 crores* and likely to cross 120 crores mark before the end of its second week, Doctor Strange has managed to grab some attention- even if it isn’t being given by critics who decided they didn’t want to stay through the credits after all!
‘KGF: Chapter 2’ has had an exceptional run at the box office, making it a great deal for both investors and those interested in seeing it. For this week, after grossing over Rs. 237 crore globally (including Rs. 6 crores worth of revenue), the collections are at roughly Rs. 427 crore worldwide so far; but unfortunately things will start to slow down soon because according to experts less people will buy tickets as time goes on – even if they drop by only one million more viewers each day- the money could still go up significantly!
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
