Directed by Anubhav Singh, Anek releases this Friday and marks the next topical film made in India. Almost as though a sequel to The Kashmir Files, also released earlier this year, Anek dives into the geopolitics of northeast India; highlighting truths about what would happen if certain international decisions were made that endangered peace in this particular area of Asia. Loads of action can be found throughout; you might see hints or even witness all-out scenes before long!
Promotional materials for the film are impressive and they successfully display the content within it. Besides all of that, there will also be a dramatic amount of dialogue and story-spinning going on; both being key aspects in Article 15 which starred Anubhav Sinha and Ayushmann Khuranna, discussing the current situation of discrimination against lower castes. That movie opened up its first weekend at Rs. 5.02 crores before eventually finishing with a total gross of Rs. 65.45 crores back then when it released last year.
Anek Team would now hope to make a similar impact with audiences. If this had taken place before the pandemic, Film could have opened in Rs. 7-9 Crores considering its credibility and previous success of Article 15. With current circumstances though – an opening day anywhere from Rs. 3-4 Crores can be reasonable due to lower expectations for such types of films these days.
