Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, a movie directed by Anees Bazmee, was released this week. It stars Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, and is co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani. The movie opened with Rs 14.11 crore in the first day, which increased exponentially over its opening weekend; it made over Rs 50 crore in 3 days. Now that it’s been out for a week on screens nationwide, it has near hit the Rs 100 crore mark already.
In the new Box Office report, we compare the first week collections of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 to those before it which played out post-pandemic. Collecting RS 92.05 crores (INR), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has become the fifth highest openers in India after these events occurred and took over 3000 screens domestically. Earning RS 70+ crore than 83, as well as Gangubai Kathiawadi and Bachchhan Paandey – it has been able to surpass these films; but doesn’t top them off completely because they did better internationally too. Rounding up the list are Antim – The Final Truth which collected Rs 29.35 crores, Heropanti 2 which had only earned Rs 23.60 crores (INR) at its time of release, or even KGF – Chapter 2 which collected RS 268 crore or RRR for example (which also released after pandemics).
Currently, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 continues to run in theatres with audiences patronizing the film in droves. As per trade predictions, while the business of the film is set to cross the Rs. 100 cr mark today, given its momentum at the box office and the lack of competition, the overall business of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 could cross even the Rs. 120 cr mark by this end of its second weekend running.
