During its inaugural week, Saand Ki Aankh made a total collection of Rs. 11.68 crores – quite the accomplishment considering its meagre opening day box office intake of Rs. 0.48 crores. Credit must be given to director Tushar Hiranandani for facilitating such an impressive transformation.
This movie’s performance at the box office matches expectations considering its genre, the clash with Housefull 4 and Made In China, and War being a competing film. This bold release strategy was a risk but producers likely hoped the positive outcome post-Diwali would lead to better weekdays results; however, that did not happen as ticket sales dropped steadily every day.
The performance of Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar’s film remains to be seen. It needs to do fairly well at the box office in order to make a profit, while competition from Ujda Chaman makes it harder to contend with Housefull 4 as the preferred option for audiences.
