There seems to be no stopping the Vivek Agnihotri directed The Kashmir Files. After a thunderous first week, the business of the film continued to rock through its second weekend as well – continuing strong as it entered this second Monday in theatres. With each passing day, The Kashmir Files maintained an impressive momentum – earning money and drawing crowds who only wanted more from the movie.
In this Box Office Report, we take a look at the collections for The Kashmir Files during its second week in theaters compared to those of similar films that have made it as far. As expected from this phenomenal blockbuster with immense hype and traction, the film has collected an unbelievable Rs. 12.40 crores by the end of Sunday evening screenings!
This surpasses the box office earnings of big name stars such as Aamir Khan (PK), Salman Khan (Bajrangi Bhaijaan), Ranbir Kapoor (Sanju) and many others – who are no match for The Kashmir Files! What will likely surprise some people is how high up on this list this young entrant is; but yet still isn’t managing to knock off past masters like Sohanlal Pudumjee (Tiger Zinda Hai), Karan Johar (Baahubali 2: The Conclusion), or even Rajkumar Hirani (Dangal).
Currently, The Kashmir Files continues to attract audiences in spite of the release of Bachchhan Paandey adding some competition. Business for The Kashmir Files has not seen a significant downturn so far. Trade predicts that when all is said and done, the total earnings for this movie should exceed Rs. 200 crore (over $29 million). It will be no surprise if The Kashmir Files exceeds Rs. 250 crore ($41 million) by the end of its second week- which would put it among one of India’s highest grossing films ever released in theaters nationwide.
