A continuation of this past week’s trends, the newly released RRR directed by SS Rajamouli received an exceedingly good response and has gone up against some great films. Featuring many actors such as Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn – there are few who won’t want to see this blockbuster film when they can. With all the hype surrounding it – either due to reviews or word-of-mouth from others who’ve seen it – it wouldn’t be surprising if someone went without hearing a single thing about it until after release day – which seems highly unlikely given just how popular this movie is becoming!
To compare an Indian movie to previous successful ones, we take a look at the first day collection of RRR- which was Rs. 17cr – and juxtapose it with the prior opening record holder The Kashmir Files- which had collected Rs. 15crore in its opening weekend. Already surpassing higher content movies such as Gangubai Kathiawadi that had collected Rs. 8.19crore and Bachchan Paandey who had earned only 3.37crore, RRR still leads on Day 2 due to its wider release across 8000 screens nationwide.
As per trade estimations, the business of this film will continue to grow throughout the week rather than level off- due largely in part because of its early success rate which currently stands at Rs91.5 crores, but is expected to grow past Rs100 crore within five days time.
