SS Rajamouli’s much anticipated period drama, RRR continues with it’s strong run as the film collects about Rs. 13.25 – 14.00 Crores on Wednesday for a six-day total of 120 Crores Rupees*. With this, RRR will surpass the Rohit Shetty cop drama, Sooryavanshi that made only Rs. 130 Crores in it’s first week when it was released last year because now we’re living in troubled economic times**.
Not only did these two movies make an equal amount at the Box Office after just one week but RR achieved this during a non-holiday season unlike Sooryvanshi who made their box office collections during Diwali time – perhaps due to good luck or fate playing out before them?
RRRE has been running on all cylinders in Gujarat, Bihar and Rajasthan while Delhi and Mumbai remain calm so that they can place well at the box-office. Ever since its release, RRRE has collected consistently double-digits each day, which will keep going until the second Sunday when it falls around Rs. 170 crores; adding another Rs. 200 crores before RRRE ends its 10-day run with totals near Rs. 270 crores (Rs. 120 crore for just three days).
When asked what would constitute success for RRRE – it needs to make over Rs. 180 crores from Hindi-speaking areas alone – and although no one can really predict what is going to happen now that the first two weeks are coming close to an end, there is certainly some evidence emerging of RRRE becoming a blockbuster – especially considering how many people came out this past weekend to support it at theaters!
