Sooryavanshi has been receiving a lot of success right up until the end of second weekend. The film now stands at a healthy Rs. 151.23 crore after acquiring respectable earnings on its second Sunday -Rs. 13.39 crore-. There are absolutely no holidays happening now, and aforementioned restriction of 50% occupancy in certain states due to pandemic and evening show ban still applies today; but these factors aren’t affecting it as much because even before the pandemic, people tended to skip out on Monday evening shows anyways since they would rather work for money than watch movies for free with friends or family members when everyone else is sleeping over night so they can start working early again come morning time.
There was talk of at least Madhya Pradesh and Haryana opening up theaters at full capacity, but unfortunately this never happened. It makes sense that Maharashtra would need some time before they can follow suit because they were one of the last states to allow theaters to be open in the first place. However, other states could have gone easier on theater admissions seeing as how COVID cases are quite rare for them anyway. Nevertheless, Haryana just announced today that theaters will now be able to admit people at 100%.
Nonetheless, the issue at hand was that even if the rule was revised at this point, it would still not make much of a difference for Sooryavanshi since in the best case scenario, cinemas don’t quite fill up to 50% during weekday evenings. Thus, as such seats would be empty regardless. However, this change could help other future releases including Bunty Aur Babli 2 starting with its release. In the meantime while we wait to see how well Sooryavanshi does from now on out during weekday evenings; all eyes will be focused on how much money it manages to make in this time frame. Should it succeed with an earning anywhere near Rs. 12-15 crores – then everything will turn out just fine.
