Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji are confident in their new movie Bunty Aur Babli 2. The success of the first film’s great reception has been discouraging for other comedies from this past year that aren’t taking off like they did before global pandemics struck – making it an exciting time to be alive in India. This pair took quite the first step towards securing some major success when we premiered Sooryavanshi last Diwali, but now we’re all hoping for some impressive numbers this week against competitors.
It just wouldn’t feel right if this one couldn’t get its sales as high as those days where pre-global pandemic comedy releases were taking home Rs 7-10 crores on opening day! Of course there are no guarantees, but you know how everything comes together when it needs to? Let’s see if this most recent release follows suit by exceeding expectations just like it seems to do so often lately!
One must be cautious of this fact though – these times are different from before. Audience numbers in theaters aren’t what they used to be; so, just because a film opens up at 26.29 crores doesn’t mean that it would have been able to sustain itself as 35 crores if not for the pandemic period. For example, Bunty Aur Babli 2 cannot expect to rake in the same kind of cash it could have had without the pandemic; henceforth predicting its opening day earning will most likely land somewhere around 4-5 crores which is satisfactory enough nonetheless.
