Even after three weeks, Sooryavanshi turned out to be the preferred choice of audiences. It’s shown this from the fact that it has collected Rs. 3.26 crores on its third Friday while new release Bunty Aur Babli 2 was lower at Rs. 3 crores. The Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty film is doing very well so far and has pretty much come up with itself, considering collections rose rather than fell from Thursday’s tally of Rs.3.16crores.
This is truly remarkable because there is a big release coming up ahead of it yet footfalls are still not decreasing; In just 15 days the film has already collected Rs 168 crs and in the process overtaking Dabangg 3 lifetime collection of rs 169cr in only 15 days! It will continue increasing over the weekend and Monday which should allow it to reach around 179 crs before closing down – this would make it India’s highest grossing movie ever if achieved!
As for Bunty Aur Babli 2, the Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji starrer had been pushed well by Yash Raj Films and the release was wide as well. However, somehow there wasn’t enough hype leading up to its release; additionally without a chart-topping song, it struggled in its ratings on Thursday night at 7 pm when there were only around 125 screens allocated to it according to Box Office India) while other films like Zero that released Friday earned Rs 41 crore (around $ 5 million) within just three days of showing. So now with that being said, Sajid Nadiadwala probably didn’t expect anything more than Rs 4-5 crore from Bunty Aur Babli 2’s opening day total; which turned out also couldn’t happen because it garnered about Rs 13 crore (under $1 million).
