Just a few days ago, Bollywood Hungama had predicted that Sooryavanshi- which has been doing fantastic in the box office up until this point- would set new records for Akshay Kumar. In fact, we had previously predicted that this Rohit Shetty film could make around 11-12 crores by the end of its third weekend to become one of Mr. Kumar’s most successful films up until now.
Collecting Rs. 12.36 crore, Sooryavanshi has surpassed the earnings of Akshay Kumar’s previous released films such as Mission Mangal which earned Rs. 9.09 crore, Good News which earned Rs. 8.73 crores, Airlift which earnt Rs. 8.41 crores and Kesari which earned Rs. 7 50 crores to become his all-time highest third weekend grosser [earnings].
Surprisingly enough, the 3rd weekend collection saw an increase in income despite Saif Ali Khan – Rani Mukherjee starring film Bunty Aur Babli 2 releasing onto screens for public viewing [movie screening]. Going forward it was predicted that moviegoers would continue to give preference to Sooryavanshi henceforth because it still remains one of their first choices at cinemas around town [in theaters].
