Sooryavanshi directed by Rohit Shetty, has been unstoppable at the box office since its release about two weeks ago. After opening with a bang – the business of this movie had seen incredible growth over its first few days and opened at number 1 for 2 consecutive weekends. Consequently, it stayed on top for 3 consecutive weekends showing almost no signs of slowing down. As said before, it was now Akshay Kumar’s highest grossing movie ever which means he can’t be stopped!
In this review of the box office successes in Mumbai for Sooryavanshi, we’ll compare it with Akshay Kumar’s previous releases. To date, it has managed to collect Rs. 68.28 crores which makes it his highest grossing release ever within the Mumbai circuit. Quite unsurprisingly, its success surpasses even his other high-profile productions such as Housefull 4 (Rs. 62.62 crores), Mission Mangal (Rs. 62.45 crores), Good News (Rs. 60.07 crores), 2:0 (Rs. 52 crore) and Rowdy Rathore (Rs 3260 lakhs). Films like Rustom (4777 lakhs), Houseful 2 (43 53 lakh) Airlift (42 14crore) and Holiday –A Soldier Is Never Off Duty that earned a total of 40 56 crore dollars seem paltry when compared to these numbers
Surprisingly, Sooryavanshi – which was limited to only half of the theatre space because of some pandemic or something – still pulled in a fortune. Trade also suggests that if they weren’t limited like this, they would have made even more money. It’s already finished three weeks at the movies and it remains people’s favourite. Despite Bunty Aur Babli 2 being released recently starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji, it seems Akshay Kumar is still all the rage!
