It’s Antim – The Final Truth which is leading the show at the box office with good but not great ticket sales. It had just made up for its lower sales on Friday by gaining close to six crore rupees in net revenue for Saturday; surprising everyone because that figure was way higher than what most people anticipated.
Indeed, as a sequel to Salmaan Khan’s Sooryavanshi, many assumed that his presence in the film (and incidentally being its main hero) would help it reach newer heights; but his involvement can only go so far when paired alongside newbie actor Aayush Sharma. Still and all, Rs 11crores is nothing to scoff at and a fantastic start for Aayush Sharma whose solo debut surpassed expectations last year even without Sabaham Khan’s commanding presence- making him undoubtedly one of Bollywood’s newest treasures.
Satyameva Jayate 2 was disappointing with Rs. 7.60 crore on Monday, only breaking even the Rs. 3-4 crore it made on Friday and Saturday combined because of Saturday’s bigger numbers (Rs. 2.25 crore). Though this Monday was also a holiday, Satyameva Jayate 2 should have gotten at least double its Thursday numbers or about 12 crores if we’re looking for it to make money; Instead, its market shares are currently mediocre at best.
Even worse news awaits those who hoped that Sooryavanshi would take the film to number one- because while Hindustan Times is having an easier time of things in theatres when compared to Satyameva Jayate 2, they’re nowhere near pleasing audiences- mainly due to them spending less time in theatres and due to lower footfalls every day so far this weekend as opposed to other films which typically open well despite tough competition coming along later in the week.
