Antim: The Final Truth -a gangster film- has been doing well at the box office and so far had collected Rs.2.75 to 2.95 Crores on Monday, which took its total earnings up to about Rs.21.46 Crores over four days since its release this weekend. Although Monday saw a small 50% drop from Friday’s numbers, it was still better than some other films’ first weeks of release this year and leads us to believe that Antim will be the next big hit out of India – in fact, it could even top many recent releases we’ve seen this year with both an exciting story line and excellent acting!
The film had done well in Maharashtra so far and this is the state driving its box office presence. Despite being at only 50% occupancy, it surpassed the half-century mark – after two days! This week has been an interesting one for Mahesh Manjrekar’s directorial but tomorrow will make all the difference when we see how well it does over a full week; particularly on Mondays. All eyes are also on Antim as no one knew what to expect from it before it released – now that people have seen it though, some are surprised at how good of a movie it actually is.
Antim is not a conventional Bollywood film- it’s more of a vehicle spearheaded by Aayush Sharma and supported by Salman’s shoulders. With this, there has been a significant boost in revenue- with close to 3 crore rupees collected after the opening weekend alone which would have been significantly lower if he wasn’t there (Salman). So while he doesn’t play the protagonist, he does fill an essential role that weaves together all other threads from the movie. Antim will be heading towards about 30 lakhs earned across 7 days- which may not seem like much for some people, but it is fair considering it was just another one of those films released amidst these struggling times.
