The recent blockbuster hit Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katarina Kaif has seen extraordinary success. Opening to a roaring response, the Rohit Shetty directed film grew in popularity as it reached day three of release. With this being the first major Hindi movie after India was put on lockdown for two weeks straight, many people anticipated what kind of money it would take in before its theatrical run ended. And so far, it’s living up to expectations – enough so that it is now sitting at over Rs. 200 crores.
In this box office report we take a look at the fourth week collections of Sooryavanshi while comparing them to what Akshay Kumar has previously achieved with films that have made it through their third consecutive week. Collecting Rs. 6.43 cr., Sooryavanshi becomes only one of two movies by Akshay Kumar that reached its fourth week in theaters, falling just short of Mission Mangal which earned Rs. 7.02 cr during its time in theaters; yet still coming up as a great success when taking into account other less popular releases such as Good News (Rs.6.09cr), Kesari (5 27cr) and Housefull 4(3 73 cr) that also managed to hit there mark among moviegoers despite being considered flops because they had no hope after staring these major hindrances from being successful among people.
