It was predicted in this column that Tadap would see an opening day in the range of Rs. 3-4 crores. Well, the film has done better as it has opened on the higher end of the spectrum with Rs. 4.05 crores coming in. This is good because even though the pandemic is coming to a close, a film needs to be truly special for audiences to step out of their homes. If Tadap really turned out to be India’s chosen one then there may actually be some credibility behind its success due solely unto itself!
To think of it, there was no precedent to how it would ultimately be accomplished – considering theaters can launch after two years and Ahyan Shetty is the first major debuting actor. There aren’t very many high-profile actors launching in any case, but with Sajid Nadiadwala doing everything he could to make sure everyone knows that this newest film exists, at least people know they’re seeing a new movie. Now, the only thing left is its ability to grow so that Milan Luthria’s directed film has an equal chance as anyone else; because regardless if someone hasn’t seen one of his films before or not, they are worth checking out just for the sheer brilliance that is sure to follow.
As for Antim – The Final Truth, even though it saw a fall from its original position on Thursday, it did not disappoint audiences. It made Rs. 1.25 crores from this point forward without falling below 50%. This means that Antim will continue to grow and surpass previous records set over the next few days. As long as this continues until Sunday night closes out in two weeks, there is no limit to what the film can achieve.
